This week we traveled a lot for a family wedding. It felt good to disengage from work and social media for a bit. The next few episodes are queued up so I could just be present with the family, make a few pictures and let my mind wander a bit.

I found some fun stuff while I moved through the world and I thought that this week I’d share some of that with you all.

To kick off, Emily has made a video talking about something I know lots of you have struggled with. Which cameras to keep, which ones to sell and which ones to keep again. It’s something I think about a lot too, not wanting to buy a camera if I don’t think I’m going to get on with it, especially as I try to avoid having too many. I really enjoyed the video, I’ll have to see if I can get her back on the show to talk about the Pen F. It does seem like a dreamy wee camera.

If you’ve ever been put off by the lack of control when zone focusing, Dave Herring has got your back. In his characteristically thorough video he not only recaps the principle, but also provides real world examples of the technique in practice to show you how it works. I am definitely guilty of checking the patch and being worried if it’s not perfectly aligned rather than trusting my settings. This is a good watch.

If you’re enjoying the show and newsletter, you can get a little more over on Patreon. Thanks to everyone who’s already supporting the show.

And finally, Ali’s back and she decided to take us all for a ride. I really like this approach to catching up with folks, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how often I would like to pick up the phone to friends and just talk to them. People used to do that! I used to as well when I worked on Teams all day. Instead of checking with someone “are you free” as I think has become the custom, I’d just hit the button and dial, like a monster. Need to do more of that, just be careful of time zones. You don’t want to wake a friend up at 2am ;) While you contemplate that, go and experience her wonderful cliffhanger video!
